Everyone Must See Fiddler on the Roof
Considered a classic among many generations, Fiddler on the Roof tells the warm-hearted story of a Jewish family learning to embrace change in 20th-century Russia. With songs like “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” the exhibition is a must-see for locals and tourists alike.
The original 1964 production, written by Joseph Stein, Jerry Bock, and Sheldon Harnick, was the longest-running Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of all time. Subsequently, it was adapted into the motion picture, “Fiddler on the Roof,” which won three Oscars. In 2016, the musical went on tour and won additional awards for the captivating Broadway revival.
For the 2023 adaptation, Danny Burstein leads with director Bartlett Sher. Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter brings exquisite motion and dance alongside a lavish orchestra while highlighting the original staging by Jerome Robbins. With stunning production, a talented cast, and an exhilarating soundtrack, the New Orleans production of the theatrical masterpiece will be outstanding.
